Plastic Grocery Bags

The grocery chain Aldi claims it is removing all “plastic shopping bags from its more than 2,300 stores” to “protect the environment” and “reduce costs.”

IN FACT, life cycle assessments show that plastic grocery bags (both reusable & single-use) have much lower environmental impacts than cotton totes and paper bags. Plastic bags are more economical and eco-friendly than other options because it takes very little energy and materials to produce them.
