Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer claims that a federal court’s decision to block Biden’s student debt relief plan “will cause millions” of “hurting hardworking Americans” to “have to pay double — or more — on their student loans.”
IN FACT, the decision will make student loan borrowers pay back the money they owe instead of shifting these debts to taxpayers. Inflation-adjusted government spending per college student has tripled since 1960, while academic workloads have fallen by about 30%.
