U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D–MA) claims “it’s outrageous that billionaires pay less taxes than public school teachers” and “it’s time that we make the wealthy pay their fair share.”
IN FACT, the richest 1% of Americans pay 2.4 times the average middle-income federal tax rate and 57 times the average middle-income tax amount. Warren’s claim and others like it are based on deceptive studies that don’t measure all taxes and all income.
